The new Directory of Travelling Photographers (DTP) on the RTFHS site celebrates the lives of the men and women – Romanies, Showmen and non-Gypsies – who worked as photographers on the move in Britain. Currently available is Part 1 – which covers the period 1841-1881 – but the DTP will be extended into the early 20th century in due course, as well as being updated as new photographers come to light.
The DTP is the result of pioneering research by RTFHS member Chy Hersey and we would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to Chy for generously donating the Directory to the RTFHS and its members but also for the benefit of photography historians and the general public.
