The RTFHS were delighted to take part in conjunction with the SOG and we learned a lot from our fellow presenters. They were from the Gypsy Lore Society Collections at the University of Liverpool, the National Fairground and Circus Archive, Bedfordshire Archives – who spoke about Pedlars’ Certificates and Chimney Sweep Registers – and Find My Past who spoke about getting the best from newspaper searches.
We also provided the audience with a checklist of useful sources for researching Romany ancestors in Britain. There’s a PDF of that checklist here: Researching Romany Gypsy ancestors.
