Gypsy History in Dorset: an event hosted by the Dorset History Centre and Kushti Bok Dorset with the RTFHS taking part

This free event at the Dorset History Centre (DHC) in Dorchester is for anyone interested in the history of the Gypsies, Roma and Travellers of Dorset. It’s hosted by the Centre in conjunction with Kushti Bok Dorset and the RTFHS.
There will be:
- A talk at 1.00pm by RTFHS Committee Member Jeremy Harte called “Green bushes: five centuries of Dorset Gypsy life”. You’ll need to book a free ticket in advance for this here.
- A book signing by Jeremy Harte, the author of Travellers through Time: A Gypsy History
- A slide show of documents and images in the DHC collection relating to Travelling life in the county
- After the talk, there will be time to chance for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. If you haven’t booked a place for Jeremy’s talk, please drop in after the talk to share Gypsy Roma Traveller stories from 2.00pm onwards
- Members of the RTFHS team will be delighted to hear about your travelling ancestors and give you help and advice for your family history research.
