RTFHS Society Day and Annual General Meeting – Live Event

The Committee of the RTFHS have pleasure in inviting RTFHS members, their family members and friends to a day of talks on the social history and family history of Travelling people plus traditional music. There will also be the opportunity to hear about the activities of your Society at the Annual General Meeting.

This event will take place in Chelmsford, Essex, on Saturday 14 May 2022 and the presentations and speakers are:

The Vardo Life
Well-known genealogy author and speaker Ian Waller will tell us about the different horse-drawn wagons our ancestors called home in times past, plus their carts and gigs.

Inside the Essex Record Office 
Richard Anderson will give us the insider’s view of the county’s wealth of resources for family history research, including digitised parish records that are available online.

Boshamengro: a celebration
Pip Heath-Coleman will talk about the fiddle-playing traditions of British Romany people – the boshamengroes – as well as entertaining us with tunes on his own fiddle. So please be sure to bring your step-dancing shoes along.

The meeting is free for RTFHS members. Tickets are £5 each for non-members, payable in advance by cheque or card or at the door on the day.
