Census transcriptions – large encampments

Found your family with a big group of other people in tents, vardos or living wagons in a census return? Take a close look at their neighbours as they could be close relatives or at least regular travelling companions.

From time to time, we add transcriptions of large encampments of Gypsies, Travellers. Fairground and Circus people on this page. That is, any group that contains more than 20 individuals in the same place.

If you have a sighting to share, why not type it up and send it to us at enquiries[at]rtfhs.org.uk? Let us have a note of the census year, the location and the reference number of the source too so that people can take a look at the original if they want to. We look forward to hearing from you.
