We hear that there will again be a meeting for the descendants of the Gypsy families who lived on the Bohemia Estate at Eastwood, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, on 16 October 2016.
The surnames of the families that belonged to that community included Allum, Bibby, Boswell, Buckley, Chillcott, Gumble, Lee, Livermore, Lamb, Loveridge, Pearce, Scarrott, Spencer, Shaw, Smith and Webb. But anyone who is interested in the history of the community or thinks they may have links to it is welcome to attend.
The event is at the Church Hall near the church of St Laurence & All Saints, Eastwood, at the Junction of Aviation Way and Eastwoodbury Lane, Eastwood SS2 6UN, from 12.00pm until 5.00pm. The organisers advise you to park at the church as there is only limited parking at the Church Hall itself.
The organisers invite you to meet up with distant relatives and share your memories, stories, family trees and contact details. If you have any unknown people in your family photos, bring those along too as someone attending may know who they are. There will be displays of old photos, newspaper cuttings, certificates, maps and many other documents. Plus plenty of opportunity to rokker.
