Will you help your Society? Become a ‘remote Committee Member’

We’d like more RTFHS members to join us on the Committee – but we also realise that not everyone lives within easy travelling distance of Hampshire: the location where we currently hold our three face-to-face Committee Meetings a year.

So we’ve come up with the idea of having ‘remote Committee members’ too.

That means it doesn’t matter where in the UK – or where in the world – you live. You can still volunteer to take a more active part in the day-to-day management and success of your Society, all without leaving your armchair. Here are some examples of what you could do for us at a distance:

  • Read and comment on book drafts sent to us by authors for possible publication by the RTFHS
  • Type up records – parish register entries, for example – for publication on this website or in our quarterly journal, Romany Routes
  • Come up with ideas for venues and speakers for our annual Society Days by doing a little research on the internet
  • Find out the names and contact details of local newspapers, radio stations and other relevant organisations – such as Traveller Education teams or family history and local history groups – in areas where we hold an event so that we can promote what we’re doing.
Sounds like something you could do?
