Come along and meet the RTFHS team at the annual Black Patch Romanies event, organised by Birmingham local historian and Gypsy history expert Ted Rudge.
It’s on from 11am until 4pm at the Soho Foundry Tavern, Foundry Lane, Smethwick B66 2LL.
We’ll have RTFHS publications for sale and will be pleased to answer your Romany, Traveller and Fairground family history questions. So please bring along your family trees and photos.
We understand from Ted Rudge that RTFHS member Josie Tombs and her husband Bill will also be attending with displays about the research they have undertaken into most of the Romany families who lived at Black Patch and the surrounding area.
Josie is also the author of The Family Tree of Woodfine Smith (published by the RTFHS in 2009) which includes the family trees of the Black Patch Smiths. The book will be on sale on Sunday and is also available from this page of our website.
