You might think that your British Gypsy, Traveller or Fairground ancestors never ventured into Ireland. But it’s important to remember that some did occasionally travel across the Irish Sea to attend important annual horse fairs and pleasure fairs. So it’s worth a search of the Irish records and newspapers for your English, Welsh and Scottish surnames of interest as well as those of any Irish Traveller ancestors.
