Did your Gypsy ancestors live in or travel through the English county of Surrey? This new source book from the RTFHS is a short-cut way to locate information about them.
The author – RTFHS Committee Member Jeremy Harte – has made a special study of travelling people in Surrey over many decades. In A Surrey Gypsy Bibliography, he lists the books, magazine and journal articles and newspaper articles he has come across in that time that contain useful references to Surrey Gypsies. So with its help, family historians and social historians can more easily track down Surrey material held online or in archives and libraries.
The source lists are complemented by a series of 24 black-and-white photos of families and encampments taken in the period 1919-1939 in and around Epsom Racecourse.
