If you’re related to the Brinkley family who attended Barnet Fair in the early 1920s and travelled in and around Hertfordshire, take a look at a new biography of the artist Peggy Angus, by James Russell. It’s called Peggy Angus: Designer, Teacher, Painter (published June 2014, Antique Collectors’ Club).
The book includes pencil and watercolour portraits of Edward Brinkley, his wife and his children Edward, Lena, Albert, Jane and Rodey who lived in Bog Lane, Barnet, Hertfordshire and who Peggy Angus met and befriended at the Fair and used to invite to her home in Muswell Hill.

On Amazon.co.uk using the website’s ‘Click to see inside’ mechanism, you can browse through some pages of the book and see two sketches of the Brinkleys.
