On 4 October 2014 at Thorney Hill Church, near Bransgore in the New Forest, Jigfoot with Simon and Jo Harmer (and possibly also Janet Keet-Black and Peter Ingram) will be giving a presentation entitled Celebrating Gypsy Heritage in songpoetry and dance.

Thorney Hill is where Alice Gillington (the Romany Rawney) lived in her caravan and collected many of her songs, tunes and dances. The descendants of many of the families she knew still live in the area. Simon & co have made an in-depth study of Gillington and this presentation features their interpretation of her songs, dance and music.

The evening starts at 7.30pm. Tickets, in aid of the church restoration fund, cost £6.60 in advance/£8 on the door, and include drinks. Telephone 01425 673495 to book.

Our thanks to Janet for alerting us to the event.
