Ancestry have just launched name-indexed and digitised original parish registers that they say cover three-quarters of the parishes in the county of Norfolk.

The databases contain around 10 million records and include:

  • Baptisms – 1813-1915
  • Marriages and Banns – 1754-1940
  • Deaths and Burials – 1813-1990

And for earlier periods, there’s a single database for baptisms, marriages and burials that spans 1535-1812.

The databases can be searched free and the register entries viewed on a by-subscription basis. And remember that access to Ancestry is often available free to users of major UK public libraries and County Record Offices.
