It is with deep regret that the Committee of the Romany and Traveller Family History Society announces the death of Alan McGowan who died on 27 June 2017.
Alan was one of the founder members of the Society and served on the Committee continuously from the Society’s foundation in 1994 until his retirement in May 2017. He was a driving force behind the shaping of the Society and many of its initiatives and developments of the past 23 years, as well as being an expert on British Romany genealogy.
