We understand that Northamptonshire County Record Office plans to start giving free access to its archives only on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and on the first Saturday of the month between April and October. If you wish to use the archives at other times, you will have to make an appointment in advance and pay £31.50 an hour.
The new access plan comes into force on 21 August 2017. A ‘Save the Northamptonshire County Record Office’ protest group have opened a Facebook page and have also started a petition that they invite people to sign.
