There’s a Romany Heritage event taking place in Beeley, Derbyshire, on the weekend of the 9th and 10th September between 11am – 4pm on both days. There are two different locations for the event within the village. The first is a display about Romany life at Beeley Village Hall (DE4 2NU) and the second is on the Moorend in Beeley (DE4 2NR) where you’ll find a living history display of rural life in Beeley featuring a Gypsy bender tent and waggon, old vehicles, grinding barrow and grinding bike. Refreshments are available.

RTFHS President and author Bob Dawson will be present at the event, selling signed copies of his latest RTFHS book British Gypsy and Traveller History to 1900 Through Art.

Also available from Bob will be his two newest books: a novel for young adults with young Traveller characters at its heart called Tuesday Wednesday Quake Day; and a book for teenagers about what happened to Romanies during the Second World War. That’s called Leaves in a Holocaust Wind.
