If you’re thinking about ordering an English or Welsh birth certificate or a death certificate from the Government’s GRO site, now is a good time to do it.
This is because the GRO is extending the duration of a pilot scheme, started in Autumn 2017, whereby you can buy a certificate in PDF format, delivered by email, for the cost of £6.00. That’s a £3.25 saving on the usual cost of buying an official paper certificate. The scheme will now run until the end of June 2018 so that the GRO can get a better idea of the level of demand for such a service.
The certificates available for this pilot are:
- Births – 1837-1916
- Deaths – 1837-1957
