Do you know anything about the Romany Gypsy Mills family who used to live in a yard in Cabul Road, Battersea, South London? If so, Graham Downie, Chairman of the Fairground Association of Great Britain, would like to hear from you.

Graham has recently been given a set of eight photos showing Mills family members, with background notes and tape recordings, by a friend who was a documentary film maker. In 1993 she was researching a proposed programme about the Mills family. Their yard in Battersea was next to the main railway lines heading south. They had been in the area for some time and had an involvement with the local boxing club. In the same yard were members of the Cooper, Gurney, Penfold, Williams and Smith families. Graham tells us that the documentary was never made but he would be interested to know if anyone can identify anyone in the photos and if any members of the Mills family are still living in Battersea.

One of the Mills photos is shown here. You can see the other seven in the Who Are They? photo gallery on the RTFHS website.

Please contact us at enquiries@rtfhs.org.uk if you know any of the people in the photos.
