Thinking about buying copies of birth, marriage or death certificates for your English or Welsh ancestors from the General Register Office (GRO)?  It’s a good idea to do it without delay. That’s because there’s going to a price increase from 16 February 2019 onwards.

Currently official paper certificates cost £9.25 each. They will be going up in price to £11.00. And if you opt for PDF copies, there will be a price increase of £1.00, going up from £6.00 to £7.00 each. Certificates can be ordered via the GRO website here.

We also understand that there are going to other changes to the GRO’s online searching and certificate ordering service. For more information, take a look at this page from the UK Government website.

Our thanks to RTFHS Chair Dianne Sutton for alerting us to these price increases.
